Overview
Weaver, artist, and craftswoman, Elda Cecchele (San Martino di Lupari, 1915 – Cittadella, 1998) stood out for her remarkable talent in creating artistic fabrics using a wide variety of materials, from leather to plastic, silk to cotton, fur to trimmings, expressing herself with extraordinary creativity and originality. All documents and much of the textile material left in her workshop at the time of its closure were donated by her heirs to the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo.
A selection of these materials will be presented to the public, retracing Elda Cecchele’s professional journey in the vibrant world of post-war Italian fashion. The exhibit is structured in two sections: the first focuses on the archival documents, featuring photographs, work notebooks, technical weaving sheets, and deposited samples; the second highlights her key collaborations with Venetian and other companies, spanning the fields of clothing, accessories, and interior design.
