Overview
On March 22th 2025 the historic route will be hit by the Milan - Sanremo cycling race. Now in its 118th edition, the race saw its first edition on April 14th 1907.
Running 299 km, it is the longest, most important and most famous one-day race in Italy. Over the years the route has remained almost unchanged. Since 1937 the date of the race was set to March 19th, Father's Day, in Italy. With father’s day no longer being included as a public holiday, it falls on the nearest Saturday.
The competition passes the Italian provinces of Milan, Pavia, Alessandria, Genoa, Savona and Imperia. It starts from Abbiategrasso and along the way, crosses beautiful cities and places of Italian splendour such as Pavia, Novi Ligure, Passo del Turchino, Varazze , Finale Ligure, Albenga and Arma di Taggia, to then reach Sanremo.
