Overview
From November 29 to March 2, Lucca hosts more than 100 original posters to tell the story of Giacomo Puccini's relationship with the billboard. A never-before-seen exhibition in the Maestro's hometown, as part of the celebrations for the centenary of the death of the famous composer.
Set up at the Ex Cavallerizza, in the historic center of Lucca and a short walk from the Walls, the exhibition entitled "Giacomo Puccini Manifesto. Advertising and Illustration Beyond Opera" brings to light for the first time a rich display of original posters dedicated to Puccini's operas and the context of the time, to tell not only the life and works of the Maestro, but also the history of European advertising graphics.
The exhibition path is divided into four sections - “Acts” - which describe Puccini's influence not only on opera posters, but also on the language of advertising:
The exhibition's official image was created by internationally acclaimed illustrator Riccardo Guasco from Alessandria, who is also present in the exhibition with his own posters, which will join more than 100 from the Salce Collection in Treviso.
