Chiusi

Overview

Situated in a borderland, a few kilometres from Umbria and Lazio, Chiusi is a village with a long historical tradition, which is still recounted by its architecture and treasures. The fulcrum of this narration of past events is the Cathedral of San Secondiano, dating back to the 6th century, one of the oldest churches in all of Tuscany that still preserves, despite various interventions, the original architecture of an early Christian basilica. The Cathedral Museum also houses materials of great value, from different eras, including the wonderful collection of illuminated Benedictine codices. And after visiting the Labyrinth of Porsenna, which can be accessed by descending from the museum, climb to the top of the bell tower, from which the view embraces the entire surrounding panorama. Nature, culture and history, Chiusi is a treasure chest of beauty.
