Shy Society: Drift features at Palazzo Strozzi - Shy society

Overview

Palazzo Strozzi is currently hosting an exhibition dedicated to Helen Frankenthaler, but the exterior of the historic building also has surprises in store for us.
Indeed, as part of the Palazzo Strozzi Future Art program, visitors can access the ground floor and admire a spectacular site-specific installation entitled Shy Society created for the courtyard by the Dutch duo Drift.
The work is inspired by those flowers that open and close depending on the day/night phases of light. This phenomenon leads the visitor to reflect not just on the concept of beauty, but also on the way all forms of life adapt to their environment.

The square courtyard at the heart of Palazzo Strozzi comes alive with impalpable presences that descend from above to the sound of music. This ever-changing, immersive, multi-sensory experience elicits true wonder.
Drift is a duo made up of the artists Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta, active in the Netherlands since 2007. The music is by RZA, an American rapper, record producer and composer.

Access to the courtyard is free of charge.
