Impressionists in Normandy

Overview

Monet, Bonnard, Boudine, Corot, Courbet, Villon, Renoir, Delacroix... These and many others are featured in the major exhibition “Impressionists in Normandy” held at the Museo degli Innocenti in Florence to mark 150 years since the birth of Impressionism.

From November 21, 2024 to May 4, 2025, in one of the most symbolic monuments of the Renaissance, more than 70 works created by the most celebrated names of the most beloved art movement will be on display.

Guest star: Water Lilies by Monet, iconic and fundamental work, part of his first series of 8 water lilies.

Alongside this, the other works recount the Impressionist current from its beginnings, closely linked to Normandy, a French region that became a must-see destination for artists, thanks to its landscapes, colors and light. A meeting place for Parisian artists and a true workshop, where they experimented with the suggestions and forms of this new painting.

Along the exhibition route, the highlights of the artistic current are traced through five sections: The Saint-Siméon Farm; By the Sea: leisure, vacation; By the Sea: work; Normandy Land; Along the Seine.

The exhibition focuses mainly on the holdings of the Peindre en Normandie Collection, flanked by loans from the Musée d'art moderne in Le Havre and private collections.
