San Casciano dei Bagni

In the southernmost point of the province of Siena, on the border with Umbria and Lazio and close to the Cetona and Amiata mountains, San Casciano dei Bagni is an ancient and characteristic village.

In Piazza Matteotti, at the entrance to the village, is located the Castello Turrito, a true characteristic element of the village, visible from every point of the district. To see the collegiate church of San Leonardo with its bell tower, around which the streets of the historic village develop, the Theatre of the Accalorated Georgofili and the Municipal Palace.

San Casciano dei Bagni is also known for itsthermal baths, whose waters are recommended for the treatment of rheumatic diseases. The oldest monument is located at the gates of the spa and is the Pagan Temple of the 4th century. dedicated to the goddess of health Hygea.

At the table, the typical local dish deserves a taste, the pici alla aglione.
