Argentario

Overview

A promontory overlooking the Tuscan sea

The Argentario promontory is immersed in the Tuscan sea, in the province of Grosseto, and is connected to the mainland by the town of Orbetello and the strips of sand known as the Giannella and Feniglia tombolos.

The landscape satisfies those who love the sea as well as those who prefer trekking or mountain biking, on trails that reach an altitude of 600 metres and offer magnificent views. Golf lovers can play at the Argentario Golf Club in a natural amphitheatre among olive trees and Mediterranean maquis.

To get to Monte Argentario you need to pass through Orbetello, so don't miss the opportunity to visit the historic centre surrounded by a lagoon. Want to take a dip? Take note of these beaches: La Bionda, Cala Pozzarello, Bagni di Domiziano, Cala del Gesso and Cala Grande.

After a day by the sea, you can stroll along the promenade in Porto Santo Stefano. From here, ferries depart for the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, while boat trips to the hidden coves of the Argentario set off from Porto Ercole, on the opposite side of the promontory. The historic centre of Porto Ercole is also one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. Lose yourself in its narrow streets and look out from the panoramic terrace at the bastion of Santa Barbara.
