Head to Fano for the oldest sweetest Carnival in Italy

Overview

Fano, a town in the Marche region in the province of Pesaro Urbino, will be covered in color and candy from january 28th to february 11th. Over 18000 KGs of sweets, chocolates and much more supplied by the Italian company Dulciar will give life to the traditional sweet storm "Toss", the historic throwing of sweets from decorated floats.

The event holds the record of being "Italy's oldest Carnival" documented in a manuscript of 1347. It will be introduced by the official mascot character, the Vulón, who is entrusted with the task of ferrying us towards the future, helping us to address important issues with necessary lightness and fun.

The big parades will also have smaller floats and various costumed characters which will help make the event even more colorful.

The captivating evening fashion shows will enliven the Fano nights  with lots of music, colors and special guests.

The Fano Carnival also caters for the little ones with its morning parades. Hundreds of students from the city's schools will parade in costumes made over the course of the year.

Like every year since 1923, the extravagant street band Musica Arabita (“Arrabbiata”) will accompany the parades playing the most bizarre, wacky instruments such as cowbells, coffee pots, large pots, umbrellas, tongs and the list goes on.

The program also includes exhibitions, book presentations and conferences that will take place inside the Palazzo del Carnevale (Palazzo Bracci Pagani) for the entire duration of the event.

A blaze of lights, colors, music, sweets, culture and art: in short, it’s an event not to be missed!!!
