Visso

It is a small town with a mountain soul, Visso: located in the heart of the Monti Sibillini National Park, of which it is also home to the headquarters, the village has a past rich in history that even today can be recounted by its architecture. One is charmed, in fact, as one passes through the historic centre: what one encounters are imposing walls, towers, mediaeval houses and balconies, Renaissance noble palaces and carved stone portals on which family coats of arms and Latin mottos stand out. But the heart of the village, the most evocative corner, the one that leaves you wide-eyed, is Piazza dei Martiri Vissani: bright, elegant, guarded and protected by splendid 15th- and 16th-century palazzi. A true jewel of architecture and history.
