Cantiano

Overview

An ancient fief of the Montefeltro, the village of Cantiano is a pearl of scenic beauty and unique traditional flavours. A mountain village, located on the border between the Marche and Umbria regions, its territory includes the natural park of the Tecchie forest and it rises almost isolated, perched on the side of a hillock, as if standing still gazing at the panorama of sky and woods that surrounds it. But Cantiano is also a place of flavours and traditional cuisine: famous, for example, is its Chiaserna bread, made particularly good by the use of spring water and respect for the ancient recipe with which it is still prepared today. Also typical of the area is the Visciola di Cantiano. Cantiano is famous for 'La Turba', a historical re-enactment of the Passion of Christ that takes place every year on Good Friday night. Also worth visiting is the Catria Regional Horse Show, which takes place every year in October and includes tastings, horse exhibitions and horse competitions.
