Passetto Park

In summer, you can go down to the well-equipped bathing establishments on the Passetto Beach via a public lift down the hill. In every season you can count on the two spectacular arms surrounded by greenery of the Passetto Steps. It is mainly in this park area that people from Ancona and tourists come to bathe in the rocks of the Adriatic. Lift and steps are located at the end of the Via Panoramica that leads here from Cardeto Park. Access to the Steps is signalled in Piazza IV Novembre by a small temple in Istrian stone that serves as a war memorial: a true panoramic balcony over the sea. The scooters parked in the square and along Via Thaon de Revel suggest that there may be another marine attraction at the base of the hill.

That's right. Just below the public swimming pool, the Grotte del Passetto caves open strikingly along the Adriatic. Please note: No need to imagine yourself as a caver: partly natural, partly excavated, it is a series of boathouses and another beach. Good bathroom here too.
