Palazzo dello Sport - Rome

Overview

The Palazzetto dello Sport in Rome - known as PalaEur after the name of the district that hosts it - bears the signatures of Pierluigi Nervi and Marcello Piacentini, who designed it in 1956 for the Games of the 17th Olympiad in Rome in 1960. The reopening of the arena in its new guise as a multifunctional space, by the ForumNet Group, which oversaw its major redevelopment and manages it through its subsidiary All Events, took place in 2003 with the Carlos Santana concert. Its refined architecture, circular shape and considerable size (the dome has a diameter of 95 m) make it one of the biggest and most beautiful indoor arenas in Europe: the Palazzo dello Sport - Rome can now host 500-person conferences, as well as large sporting events, music and entertainment with 11,500 participants. The Palazzo dello Sport in Rome - the only Italian venue together with the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, also part of the ForumNet Group - is a member of the European Arenas Association(EAA), which brings together the 36 largest multi-purpose facilities in Europe.
