Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta

Overview

The oldest golf course in Italy

Founded in 1903, the Circolo del Golf Roma Acquasanta, despite being Italy’s oldest golf course, is absolutely in line with the times. Also known as the Acqua Santa Golf Club, it is located in the heart of the capital, along Via Appia Nuova, surrounded by places of unparalleled artistic beauty.

It was a Mr Arthur Flach who identified a suitable site for the construction of a golf course three kilometres from Porta Maggiore. The area is near the “aquasanta”, that is, close to the small Almone river, which was worshipped almost as a deity.

The course, expanded over the course of time, now features no less than 18 holes of varying difficulty, including climbs with impressive panoramic views, rows of maritime pines and eucalyptus trees, water obstacles, bunkers and grass embankments. In its entirety, the course requires precision rather than power. A refined clubhouse, a restaurant and a large swimming pool complete the picture, all set in a magical retro atmosphere.
