Arrone

Overview

The town of Arrone appears to travellers in its fascinating aspect as an ancient fortified village, perched on a rocky outcrop and immersed in the lush vegetation of the Nera River Park.

Watchtowers and sections of the old defensive walls appear among the winding alleys of Arrone: it comes as no surprise that, in 1966, the director Mario Monicelli chose this town as the set for his cult comedy “For Love and Gold”, set in the Middle Ages.

Further down, along the course of the River Nera, sporting types can enjoy rafting, rowing and other water sports; for those who prefer trails through the trees, the place to go is the Nahar Adventure Park, in the hamlet of Rosciano.
