Overview
Piaggio is a company that since 1884, the year it entered the market, has marked its presence at sea, on land, in the sky, on all means of locomotion. He has made furnishings for steamships and transatlantic liners, wagons, aircraft, pleasure and military vessels, propellers, buses, cabins for cable cars and funicular railways. The vehicles that have made the brand famous throughout the world include the Ape, the motorised tricycle, the Ciao and the legendary Vespa, a style icon since 1946. The company museum, housed in the former tooling factory in Pontedera since 1923, offers an overview of the means of transport that Piaggio has produced, as well as, of course, a colourful parade of Vespas, showing their evolution from the first prototype to the latest generations. The museum building, which also houses the foundation and the historical archive, is not only an exhibition, but also an informative one, because together with the exhibition of the means, it tells the story of ingenuity, entrepreneurship, men and work, know-how and the evolution of means and trades.
