Ducal Palace Urbania

Overview

The Ducal Palace, commissioned by the Montefeltro-Della Rovere family to Francesco di Giorgio Martini in about 1470 and later expanded during the first half of the 16th century thanks to the intervention of Girolamo Genga (1476-1551), houses the Museum and the Art Gallery. These collections, together with those donated by suppressed convents and other donors, make up the precious heritage of the Museum-Pinacoteca, collecting paintings, drawings, engravings and chalcographic and geographical material that Duke Francesco Maria II Della Rovere, the last Lord of Urbino, left to the community of Casteldurante. The tour covers more than 20 rooms and allows you to learn about the architectural beauties of the ducal palace, the last seat of the Della Rovere court, and appreciate the collections of great masters of the 16th and 16th centuries, particularly valuable and rare in terms of graphics.
