Fonte Avellana Monastery| Scriptorium.

Overview

Around the 10th century, some hermits decided to build, on the slopes of Monte Catria (1701 m), about 700 metres above sea level, a place of prayer destined to become the Monastery of Fonte Avellana. Their spirituality was influenced by St Romuald of Ravenna, founder of the Camaldolese Benedictine Congregation, who had lived and worked in nearby places such as Sitria, Mount Petrano and San Vincenzo al Furlo.
