Senigallia

Overview

Senigallia is a city where sea and history intertwine, leaving traces of themselves in the local architecture and customs. Its territory is a gentle flat expanse that caresses the sea on the coast and climbs soft hills inland. Its beach, known as 'di velluto', is home to the famous Rotonda a Mare, built in the 19th century for hydrotherapy purposes and now a venue for exhibitions and events. The element that, more than any other, recounts the city's medieval past is the Rocca Roveresca, commissioned by Giovanni della Rovere, lord of Senigallia, but the historical centre is rich in attractions and certainly worth visiting are the Palazzo del Duca, the Palazzetto Baviera, the Portici Ercolani and the Foro Annonario, where the city market is held and where shows and concerts are organized during the summer.
