Overview
Porto Potenza Picena is the most densely populated hamlet of Potenza Picena and is a seaside village, now an important seaside resort that nonetheless maintains intact its ties with ancient seafaring traditions. Traces of its history remain clearly visible in the village, particularly in the Tower of Sant'Anna, a watchtower erected in the 15th century, and in the church of the same name. But it is the traditional re-enactment of fishing with the "sciàpeca" that tells the soul of the village: every year in August, the event in period costume brings back memories of this ancient fishing method, now abandoned but much used in past centuries.
