Valdidentro

Overview

Winter sports, unspoilt nature and spa holidays

Bathed by the Viola Bormina stream, Valdidentro is located at an altitude of 1,350 metres in the province of Sondrio. Inhabited since the year one thousand, it preserves numerous historical artefacts that testify to the past of this geographical area: Pedenosso church, standing on the rock as a sign of fortification, San Gallo church in the hamlet of Premadio and the Torri di Fraele, two 14th-century signal constructions located between Monte delle Scale to the east and Cima Plator to the west. Until the WWI, there were trenches around them that are still partly visible. The area is also home to Lake San Giacomo, an artificial reservoir in the Fraele Valley.

From December to April, the three ski areas of Bormioski, Santa Caterina Valfurva and Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain offer a total of 110 kilometres of slopes on 36 different lifts. The proximity to the Stelvio National Park allows for enjoying breathtaking landscapes and lush nature, populated by large birds of prey, deer, ibex, marmots, stoats and white hares.

The immediate vicinity to Bormio, famous for its thermal spas, makes it possible to treat oneself to an afternoon of wellness and relaxation at the Bagni Nuovi and Bagni Vecchi in the hamlet of Premadio.
