The Big Bench along the Antica Strada Valeriana

Overview

A unique viewpoint over Lake Iseo and Monte Isola

There are many vantage points from which you can enjoy unique views of Lake Iseo, from the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola to Monte Guglielmo. But there is one particularly stunning one: the Big Bench along the Antica Strada Valeriana, a large, green bench overlooking a stretch of water. It is part of the Big Bench Community Project, the brainchild of American designer Chris Bangle, aimed at promoting local excellence, just like the Alpine lake straddling the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia.

The bench, 2 metres high and 3 metres wide, is located in San Fermo and is a 45-minute hike from Piazza Basilio Cittadini di Pilzone, on the outskirts of Iseo, following the signs on the right of the Antica Strada Valeriana towards Monticelli Brusati. The path to the Big Bench is steep and paved with large, smooth porphyry and sandstone stones, so it is only recommended for walkers with previous hiking experience and hiking boots are a must. You are sure to be stunned by the sweeping views of Sebino and Monte Isola.
