Capo Mele

Overview

Among the most beautiful villages in Liguria

With its promontory overlooking the Ligurian sea, Capo Mele divides Andora and its Marina, to the west, and Laigueglia, to the east. Its name, historically, was actually “capo delle Mole”, referring to the windmills sat atop the ridge. Today, a weather station stands on the top of the promontory, while on the steeper eastern slope you can spot the shine of a lighthouse.

Thanks to its strategic location, Capo Mele is the ideal place from which to explore nearby Laigueglia, Andora and Alassio. The former was, not by chance, listed among Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages: its historic centre retains an unchanged charm, where elegant buildings such as the Church of San Matteo alternate with historic shops and colourful, traditionally Ligurian houses, with shades ranging from pink to ochre. You can relax on Andoras beaches, among the largest on the entire Ligurian Riviera. Be sure to stop by Alassio, the town where you can find a little wall where you can post your own love letter. We recommend strolling along the Budello, the alleyway that crosses through the village parallel to the sea, where you can stop to buy a souvenir or admire the magical views.
