Pontine Islands

Overview

An archipelago in Lazio, amid nature and unspoilt landscapes

The Ponziane or Pontine Islands are the only archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea in Lazio. Formed by the islands of Ponza, Gavi, Palmarola, Zannone, Santo Stefano and Ventotene, they are an unspoilt natural paradise.

The island of Ponza, the largest, gives its name to the entire archipelago and is certainly the most touristy. It includes numerous beaches to relax and enjoy diving excursions. The most famous are the Chiaia di Luna Beach and the Frontone Beach, but there are also small bays and coves that are more hidden and isolated, and wild and fascinating precisely for this reason.

The island of Ventotene is the second largest and, together with Ponza, the only one to be inhabited. It also boasts many beaches with crystal-clear waters, including Cala Rossano and Cala Nave, most of which are only accessible by sea, perfect for visitors looking for a crowd-free and private location.

The islands of Gavi, Palmarola, Zannone and Santo Stefano can also only be reached by sea and are relatively small. You can explore them on short hikes to immerse yourself in pristine nature and be amazed by breath-taking views.
