Ponza

Overview

Idyllic holidays in the pearl of the Mediterranean

Off the Gulf of Gaeta, dominating the Pontine Islands archipelago, is the majestic island of Ponza, one of the pearls of the Mediterranean that has been known about since Phoenician times. With its sandy coastline, coves, sea stacks, crystal-clear sea and fantastic archaeological sites, it is the ideal destination to enjoy holidays and short stays surrounded by idyllic locations.

Conveniently accessible all year round from Formia and Terracina, and in summer also from San Felice Circeo and Anzio, you can explore the island far and wide by car. But it is by boat that you can fully appreciate the splendour of this crescent-shaped strip of land. A sea tour is a must even for returning visitors, perhaps after a morning relaxing at the beach and a rich lunch in one of the restaurants crowding the Ponza harbour area.

Trekking enthusiasts can spend hours at Monte Guardia, Punta Fieno and Frontone, while diving enthusiasts are sure to enjoy admiring the remains of a ship that sunk during World War II at Punta Papa

Not forgetting the beaches: it is impossible to choose the most beautiful, but you can’t go wrong among Cala Feola, Cala dell’acqua, Chiaia di Luna and Capo Bianco, which between them offer some of the most picturesque and photographed spots on the island.
