Indeed, low-cost golf is becoming more common in Italy: saving money is not impossible, it's all about choosing the right venue and following a few small recommendations. So how can you do this? Schedule your lessons midweek, as the rate from Monday to Friday is generally lower, or keep an eye on golf club websites so as not to miss out on one-off promotions, which are a frequent occurrence during the low season.
But which places should you visit if you want to start playing golf without investing a fortune? Here we have them:
Golf clubs for young people in Piedmont
Club houses dedicated to young people are set up with offers designed for specific age groups, in particular from 6 to 18 years of age.
The initiative was launched by the Cavaglià Golf Club, in the province of Biella, which for all those under 18 provides an affordable annual Youth Club rate that includes an all-inclusive subscription, covering all golf services, with unlimited admission to the driving range and course, reserved for Federgolf members.
60-minute lessons at the Golf Club Siracusa Sicily
Within the magnificent setting of I Monasteri Golf Resort, a former Benedictine monastery that is now a luxury resort, the Golf Club Siracusa Sicily organises golf courses aimed at beginners and non-F.I.G. members, in collaboration with the Cobra Golf Academy.
If you are in Sicily and are looking for the gentlest possible approach to the golf course, this is certainly the place for you. Indeed, there is a package of 5 lessons lasting 60 minutes each, with free admission to the driving range for the entire duration of the lessons.
In Calabria at the Golf Club San Michele, where you learn by the sea
Leaving Sicily and heading up to Calabria, in Cetraro, in the province of Cosenza, you can enjoy an easy approach to the green by choosing the Golf Club San Michele.
The club offers new players a 2-month introduction to the world of golf.
And the added bonus? A golf course surrounded by greenery with a view of the gulf, where you can practise with 6 half-hour lessons under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
In the heart of Salento with the Acaya Golf Club
Still in the southern regions, head to Puglia and discover the Acaya Golf Club. You will find yourself in the heart of the Salento, surrounded by countryside shrouded in olive trees, and you will receive three months' membership to the club (with a 50% discount on the subsequent 12 months), green fees for entry to the driving range, a theory course on the rules of golf, a package of 5 lessons and annual membership to the F.I.G.
VolturnoGolf's 18-hole course in Campania
VolturnoGolf in Castel Volturno is an 18-hole course. The club, in the province of Caserta, is a true scenic treasure, immersed in the Mediterranean pine forest. It offers a golf promotion for beginners, with a basic introduction to golf course, which includes a package of five 30-minute lessons on the driving range (and unlimited access), with a federal instructor from the Italian PGA.
85 hectares of golfing at the Parco de' Medici Golf Club in Rome
Developed thanks to the reclamation of a completely razed and barren area, here we find the 85 hectares of the Parco de' Medici Golf Club, located within the Grande Raccordo Anulare, 10 minutes from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport.
The package includes 16 hours of group golf lessons for 8/10 participants, to be held over 8 weeks, or 8 hours of group lessons for groups of 4 participants, to be held over 4 weeks, with free access to the driving range even outside lesson hours.
In Abruzzo, try the Miglianico Golf & Country Club
Enjoy four months of golf at the Miglianico Golf & Country Club in Abruzzo at advantageous prices, including five individual lessons with a federal instructor, equipment and FIG membership card.
All this on an 18-hole course that winds its way through olive groves, vineyards, bunkers and artificial lakes. It is less than 10 km from the sea, and taking lessons here will be a real pick-me-up for the mind and body.
In central Italy you can have fun at the Perugia Golf Club and the Conero Golf Club
In the green heart of Italy, the Golf Club of Perugia offers novice golfers 30 days with a package of 5 individual lessons lasting 30 minutes, or in groups of 2 players with lessons of 60 minutes each.
Not to be outdone is the promotion offered by the Conero Golf Club, located within the Conero Park in the municipality of Sirolo, which offers 4 one-hour group lessons.
In Tuscany, one of the most beautiful courses in Italy
We conclude our journey in Prato, at one of the most beautiful 18-hole golf courses in Italy: Le Pavoniere Golf Club. Here you can try a round of golf with friends, with 5 group lessons for 3/4 people, or treat yourself and opt for 5 individual 30-minute lessons, with access to the golf club for two months.
