Zoldo alto

Overview

Heart of mountaineering and iron tradition

At the foot of the Dolomites, between the Pelmo and Civetta mountains, lies the village of Zoldo Alto, which became Val di Zoldo in 2016 following the merger with the municipality of Forno di Zoldo. The area is an ideal destination for lovers of nature and winter sports: Val di Zoldo is part of the largest ski area in Veneto, the Skicivetta, which connects the municipality to nearby Alleghe and Selva di Cadore. There is no shortage of family activities, picturesque landscapes and local initiatives: among the most beautiful we recommend the moonlight snowshoe hike or the snowshoe hike in the company of the gnomes, a fun walk in the snow that is perfect for the little ones.

If you love mountaineering, look for the Bergsteigerdorf, authentic CAI-certified mountaineering villages, where nature is strictly respected and time seems to stand still.

The area is also known for its rich cultural heritage and for being the land of ice cream makers, ciodaròt (iron and nail workers) and gondola builders. Learn all the secrets of these ancient professions at the Iron and Nail Museum, which can be visited during the summer months.
