Quinto di Treviso

Overview

Art and culture on the Sile River

Quinto di Treviso is a quiet town in the Treviso area, near the Sile River. Its historic centre boasts numerous historical and artistic sites, including Villa Memo Giordano Valeri, a luxurious 17th-century residence that houses the decorative ensemble of the Veneto painter Vittorio Emanuele Bressanin.

The Church of Santa Cristina, an imposing building in Gothic and Romanesque style, houses numerous artworks. The wooden altarpiece by 16th-century artist Lorenzo Lotto is striking in its unique beauty.

Moving away from Quinto di Treviso and following the banks of the Sile River, you can walk the Via dei Mulini, the Path of the Mills. Built in the 14th century, the mills bear witness to the agricultural and economic importance of the area in the past, when the large wheels ground wheat originating from the city of Venice. Today, you can walk a loop trail within the Regional Natural Park of the Sile River, a protected area of over 4,000 hectares. You can admire the old mills and explore picturesque lakes. Let yourself be guided by the Anguane, beautiful female figures who, according to myth, inhabited the waters of the Sile.
