Pista olimpica Eugenio Monti

Overview

A modern bobsleigh track in Cortina

Cortina d’Ampezzo is getting ready to host the 2026 Winter Olympic Games by redeveloping the former Eugenio Monti Olympic track. This bobsleigh and luge track was used back in the 1956 Cortina Olympics and is famous for starring as one of the sets in the 1981 film For Your Eyes Only, starring Roger Moore as James Bond.

The track is named after Eugenio Monti, an athlete who won six Olympic medals in the bobsleigh at the Winter Olympic Games and ten medals at the World Bobsleigh Championships between 1957 and 1968.

The Eugenio Monti Olympic track has been closed since 2008. The redevelopment work will dismantle the old facility in its entirety, in a reclamation project that will create a new, modern Sliding Centre available to sports enthusiasts and the residents of Cortina, ready to welcome bobsleigh, skeleton and luge world champions.
