Church of St Victor

Overview

In the museum, there is one of the most valuable exhibits: a wooden crucifix of remarkable Gothic workmanship, dating back to the 14th century. It is probably the triumphal crucifix offered by Challant and installed in the atrium of the medieval church. It was originally exposed to the elements at a crossroads in Sizan and then, in 1930, was transported to the church. It was subsequently restored in 1976. Other important pieces in the museum include a silver foil processional cross with a copper handle, dating back to the 15th century, as well as a silver-plated copper reliquary. There is also a chasuble of red damask with gold embroidery from the 17th century. A special feature of the museum is the tools used to bake and make wafers.
