Abbey of San Pietro in Valle

Overview

The Abbey of San Pietro in Valle, founded in the Middle Ages about five kilometres from the village of Ferentillo, has been for centuries an important point of reference for the Benedictine and Cistercian community of southern Umbria.

Indeed, it is difficult to think of a more suitable place to host a convent: the structure is set in a pleasant and verdant landscape, where tranquillity and silence reign. The origins of this religious structure date back to the time of the Lombard kingdom in Italy: that is why the abbey is included among the assets protected by UNESCO in the list "The Lombards in Italy. The Places of Power (568–774 AD)".

To visit the Benedictine cloister and the abbey church, which preserves some valuable works of art, you must contact the local parish. The other sections of the abbey are occupied by an elegant hotel, to be kept in mind for prestigious events or relaxing holidays.
