The Etruscan-Roman Wine Route

Overview

A journey through time and taste

Travelling along the Etruscan-Roman Wine Route is like taking a true journey back in time, fully immersing yourself in a past made up of traditions, folklore, history and, of course, food and wine excellence. We are in Umbria, along the course of the Tiber, where first the Etruscans and then the Romans created a rich civilisation.

Following this ancient route will lead you to discover world-famous towns, such as Orvieto, and small villages worth exploring, including Narni, Amelia, Ficulle, Montecchio and Allerona, to name but a few. The necropolises of Tuscia, the ghost town of Monterano, and natural wonders such as Lake Bracciano and the Macchiagrande Oasis will fascinate you.

This true journey into taste would not be complete without a taste of traditional flavours. You can stop at the many wine cellars and wineries to taste the wines that have made this area world famous. You can pair your glass with products of the land, including cured meats, cheeses, honey, truffles and a round of tasty PDO oil.
