Piediluco

Overview

Piediluco is a village that over the centuries has become one with its lake, interweaving stories, identities and tales. The small medieval town is an ancient fishing village, enlivened by the colours of the houses and the lively atmosphere that has always distinguished it. In the historic centre, the church of San Francesco, built in memory of the visit of the saint from Assisi, is well worth a visit: it also tells of the close relationship the place has with the lake, and this can be sensed by observing the fish and fishing tools depicted in the bas-reliefs on the entrance doors. Arriving by boat or pedalo to the centre of the lake, one enjoys a splendid view of the village, while walking along the via di San Francesco one observes it from above, small and distant, enchanting. Finally, do not miss the Festa delle Acque, which celebrates the summer solstice with dances, concerts, fireworks and an evocative parade of allegorical boats.
