Colle Eletto cable car

Overview

The easiest and fastest way to see Gubbio from the summit of Mount Ingino

Gubbio, just a few miles from Perugia, lies at the foot of Mount Ingino. The medieval village is watched over by the ancient Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo, which houses the remains of the town's patron saint. For centuries, the only way to reach the small sanctuary was to walk along the long trail that winds uphill from the town centre. Ever since 1960, though, visitors have been able to enjoy the unique view from up high in just a few minutes thanks to the Colle Eletto cable car, built on the 800th anniversary of the saint's death.

The Colle Eletto cable car operates all year round, but its peak season is undoubtedly the Christmas holidays, when the world's largest Christmas tree, made up of over 900 lights topped by a huge, shining star, is built on the slopes of Mount Ingino.

The Colle Eletto cable car is accessed from the centre of Gubbio. The journey to the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo takes just 6 minutes, but the view when you arrive will leave you speechless.
