Abbey of St Severus and Martyrdom

Overview

An interesting building was erected in the early Middle Ages and later rebuilt in the 12th century by Benedictine monks. The French-born Premonstratensian monks took over from the Benedictines in 1220, expanding the Abbey northwards with a transitional architectural style between Romanesque and Gothic.
