The Church of St Mary of the Assumption

Overview

The Church of St Mary of the Assumption was built at the beginning of the 15th century outside the walls of Arrone castle, and is the main landmark in the district that also bears the name of the church.

The façade, which also serves as a bell tower, leads you into the church through the elegant portal surmounted by a frescoed lunette.

Inside there are two aisles and a nave separated by large arches on octagonal pillars. The interior is captivatingly beautiful, with magnificent frescoes adorning the apse, the central arch and the side chapels.

The enchanting square in front of the church is the lively centre of village life.
