Sesi Archaeological Park

Overview

A fortified village of houses and huts that was inhabited between 2000 and 1400 BC by a community of around 200 people, who may have arrived from the Libyan coast, and a vast necropolis is what comprises the Sesi Archaeological Park. Of the village, part of the grandiose city wall (known as the High Wall) remains, while of the necropolis, you can still see the sesi, elliptical, hemispherical lava rock structures with many entrances, inside which were one or more chambers. The mammoth Sese del Re or Sese Grande, perhaps intended for the most powerful person in the village, remains in good condition.
