Punta Secca

Overview

Montalbano lives here, in the heart of south-eastern Sicily

A few minutes from Modica, in the province of Ragusa, are some of the most beautiful beaches in south-eastern Sicily. Punta Secca has a place of honour in this special ranking, along with Scoglitti. These characteristic coastal towns are known to the general public because it is here that the TV adventures of Il Commissario Montalbano are filmed. More specifically, it is precisely in Punta Secca that the house of the character played by Luca Zingaretti is located: a splendid villa by the sea, which is actually a bed & breakfast, in which the eccentric police commissioner takes refuge to meditate, and which has now become a veritable tourist pilgrimage site.

A few steps away from the famous villa are Torre Scalambri and the Punta Secca Lighthouse: the latter offers a postcard-perfect view, especially at sunset, to be admired from the beach below. After a nice photo shoot between fiction and reality, you can take a leisurely stroll through the coastal town, Borgata a Mare, full of small restaurants.

If, after seeing the sites of the famous fiction, you want to stay in Punta Secca to swim and sunbathe, there are small bathing establishments where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas.
