Santo Stefano di Camastra

Overview

The Town of Ceramics

Directly overlooking the sea of the province of Messina, set within an area that is partly along the coast and partly at the foot of the Nebrodi mountains, the pretty municipality of Santo Stefano di Camastra, also known as the Town of Ceramics, extends over high ground. From here, you can admire the beautiful surrounding views, with incredible natural beauty.

The main attraction of Santo Stefano di Camastra is, without a doubt, its production of ceramics, which you can admire both in the historic buildings, such as the Mother Church of San Nicola, and along the town streets, like the wonderful Avenue of the Palms, and in the shops, where you can buy plates, vases, moro heads, pine cones, majolica, jars, bummuli and an endless list of other objects. Palazzo Trabia, one of the most important noble buildings in the area, is home to the City Museum of Ceramics, a true temple of the traditions of Santo Stefano di Camastra, where you can retrace the entire history of this craft tradition.
