Brolo

Overview

With its cliffs rising from the waters just off the coast, which can also be reached by swimming, Brolo immediately identifies itself as a village with a maritime identity. Overlooking the splendid Tyrrhenian Sea and surrounded by the Nebrodi mountain chain, the village is a place where one can seek an authentic, intimate contact with the sea. The village is dominated by its medieval castle, perched on a rocky promontory like a sentinel watching over the sea to protect the territory from enemies. And always the immense blue expanse is at the centre of the most exciting local tradition, the Sea Festival: every year, the Statue of Christ of the Abyss, which lies on the seabed in the direction of the rock, is 'resurfaced' and hoisted onto this very rock surrounded by water, where it will remain for a few days.
