Tinnura

Overview

There is a bond that unites Tinnura to its territory and its craftsmanship: a village where the tradition of basket weaving is strong, its name is said to derive from 'tinnias', river rushes. A generous land of olive groves and orchards, that of Tinnura, but above all a land of vineyards: the village in fact falls within the Malvasia di Bosa production area. The historical centre is also a veritable open-air museum, with its fascinating murals that narrate, through lines and colours, rural life and daily gestures, its squares, statues created by important artists such as Stefano Chessa, Simplicio Derosas, Carmine Piras and Pinuccio Sciola, and its fountains, among which the one representing the signs of the zodiac stands out. The most ancient history, on the other hand, is contained in the Nuragic architecture: worth seeing are the nuragic complex of Tres Bias or Trobia, which from its strategic position dominates the surrounding territory, and the tomb of the giants of Su Crastu Covocadu, one of the largest and most important in Sardinia.
