Sindia

Overview

Sindia is a small hilltop village, which rises at the foot of Mount Rughe and has its roots in prehistory, in a distant time that has, however, left its traces in the many architectural features that surround the town, such as the nuraghe, dolmens and tombs of giants. In Sindia, a village of ancient traditions and authentic beauty, the churches of San Pietro and Santa Maria di Corte, built with dark volcanic stone, are worth a visit, and above all Casa Virdis, a 19th-century aristocratic palace from where one can admire the Nuraghe Virdis, also known as the Gianbasile nuraghe. All around, unspoilt nature: close to the village is the splendid nature reserve of Sant'Antonio, with its verdant holm oaks, hollies, cork oaks and downy oaks, a place of silent perfection.
