Sas Conzas

Overview

Sas Conzas is the artisanal district of Bosa with its buildings overlooking the river and used, from the 18th century until the 1960s, for tanning leather and which today are a splendid example of industrial archaeology. Declared a national monument in 1989, they were placed under protection and since the early 2000s, work has begun to rehabilitate the structures, repurposing them for residential use, shops or premises. The complex groups. a series of side-by-side cottages consisting of two parallel buildings. On the façade, the arched doors are framed by red trachyte; large windows protected by grates ensured the ventilation of the rooms. The first stage of leather processing took place on the ground floor, where the vats were located, equipped with drainage channels cut from the floor sloping down towards the river. The upper floor consisted of a wooden mezzanine where the skins were dried before finishing. One of the buildings houses the Conce Museum, with old photographs, machinery and tools.
