MAN Art Museum of the Province of Nuoro

Overview

The MAN, Art Museum of the Province of Nuoro, is a permanent public institution open to the public since 1999 inside a 1920s building in the historic centre of Nuoro

One of a kind in Sardinia, the Man is dedicated to the study, conservation and promotion of modern and contemporary art and for this it obtained, in 2013, regional recognition as a museum of excellence.

The first centre of the collection, born from the amalgamation of some public collections and enriched with new acquisitions that extend to the regional context, is now preserved in the historical headquarters, while the two historical buildings located in Piazza Sebastiano Satta, recently restored, form the new exhibition complex.

The MAN collection, the result of of a careful selection of works by Sardinian artists from the end of the 19th century to the present day, consists of around 850 pieces that offer a broad panorama of the most important authors in the history of Sardinian art, such as Antonio Ballero, Giuseppe Biasi, Francesco Ciusa, Mario Delitala, Carmelo Floris, Maria Lai, Mauro Manca, Costantino Nivola and many others. The Collection also includes a significant collection of drawings and ceramics by Salvatore Fancello and the graphic work of Giovanni Pintori.
