Laconi

Overview

Immersed in the Sarcidano plateau, Laconi is surrounded by a dense and lush forest, rich in water sources. Its territory is rich in the remains of Nuragic archaeology, which can be admired in the surroundings of the village and in the Museo Civico of statues -menhir housed in the town hall, which houses the monumental stone steles found in the locality of Perda Iddocca. The heart of Laconi is the Aymerich Castle, dating back to the first half of the 19th century: the building is located in the middle of a beautiful park and consists of a rectangular main tower dating back to the 11th-12th centuries, later converted into a prison, next to which stands the castle proper. But the castle's special feature is the park that it embraces with its exotic plants and dense holm oak groves, interspersed with small waterfalls, streams, natural cavities and ponds, which make this place a magical place, an island of harmony in the heart of the village.
