Sa Domo ‘e sos Marras Ethnographic Museum

Overview

The museum is located in the former home of the Marras family, known locally as "Sa domo ‘e sos Marras". The elegant building underwent careful restoration in 1995, which preserved the charm of the traditional eighteenth-century architecture. Inside there is a large collection of furniture, work tools and antique furnishings, in a journey through the agricultural and pastoral history of the area. Passing through the large gateway on Via Garibaldi, you enter the paved courtyard, picturesquely adorned with a stone well and surrounded by loggias. The courtyard and ground floor are dedicated to agricultural activities, with a display of tools once used for work in the fields.

Going up to the first floor, you enter the main residence, where eighteenth-century local daily life is revived in rooms faithfully furnished with period furniture. The visit concludes with the traditional costume collection, which includes a precious wedding dress from the early 1900s.
