Tricase

Overview

Tricase is a pretty town in the Serre Salentine Mountains and part of its territory is included in the Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca e Bosco di Tricase Regional Natural Park. From the hinterland, the town stretches out towards the sea, where its two 'marinas', Tricase Porto and Marina Serra, are located. Here, the sea is the only protagonist and everything moves at its own steady, vital pace... ancient fishing villages have maintained this seafaring soul in their daily activities, in the ancient gestures linked to fishing and even in their cults: according to ancient tradition, in fact, saints are honoured with evocative processions at sea. A curiosity: on the road leading from the historic centre to the Tricase Porto marina there is one of the oldest trees in Italy. It is the Quercia Vallonea, which, at 700 years old, has been declared a botanical monument.
