Scialara's beach

Overview

A tongue of fine sand dominated by Vieste and the mysterious Pizzomunno

At the foot of the Swabian Castle of Vieste, in one of the most picturesque spots on the Gargano, lies the spectacular Scialara Beach. This stretch of fine sand goes on for 3 kilometres from one of Vieste's symbols, the romantic limestone massif known as Pizzomunno, linked to an ancient popular legend dating to when Vieste was just a small village of huts.

Today, Spiaggia della Scialara beach has become a landmark for those who choose Apulia and the Gargano area for their seaside holidays. Its great popularity is thanks to the beautiful natural setting in which it is located, but also to the bathing establishments that provide holidays and stays amidst comfort and innovative services. The very shallow water makes the beach ideal for children and the elderly, as well as for long romantic walks on the shoreline in the shadow of Pizzomunno, while more skilled swimmers will have to move a little away from the shore before reaching the deeper waters.
