San Felice Bay

Overview

Where legend becomes postcard paradise

Just 8 kilometres from Vieste, a wonderful seaside stop in Gargano, you come across the Bay of San Felice and its Architiello. Welcome to a postcard paradise characterised by sheer cliffs, crystal-clear sea and a small beach with fine, golden sand. The seabed is shallow and sandy, so it is also suitable for children and those who do not know how to swim well.

If you want some adrenaline, you can enjoy diving directly from the rocks, doing water sports, such as windsurfing and kitesurfing, and do some exploring while snorkelling. Near the beach you will find one of the most evocative and spectacular works of nature in the area, the Arch of San Felice, also known as Architiello: a piece of limestone rock shaped in time by the action of the wind and the sea.

Legend has it that the Arch was carved into the rocks by the sea nymphs and the Tritons in honour of the king of the sea, Neptune, and his wife, Amphitrite. You can feast your eyes upon the beauty of the Arch and the Bay from the panoramic point of Torre San Felice, an imposing and ancient coastal watchtower.
