Masseria Le Stanzie

If you want to plunge into the past in an enchanting atmosphere surrounded by greenery, a visit to this typical Puglian farmhouse is a must. Simple and flavoursome Salento cuisine is served up in "stanzie" ("rooms" in the local Salento dialect) heated by fireplaces and brought to life by colourful clusters of tomatoes and chilli peppers hanging from the ceilings and stone walls. On warm days, tables are also set up under the pergola or on the outdoor patio, where diners can enjoy views of the countryside. The menu follows the rhythms of nature with authentic and well-balanced ingredients. The cheeses and pasta are homemade, while the vegetables are grown on site, as is the livestock that produces the meat. Typical dishes include sagne ncannullate with sauce and ricotta, pancotto soup, and "massa e ceci" pasta.
